Intense Regret - martinchill.com

i give you ample warning, gentle reader,
because this is some pretty brutal shit right here.
*chuckle*

well… Intense Regret was my ‘big fish’…
‘the one that got away’…

it was the mid-80s in birmingham, alabama…

i was introduced, with a warning, to this guy Richard…

or Helldude, as he eventually came to be known…

and we became brothers…

if a 6’5″ auburn-haired guy and
a sawed-off sandy demon
can be brothers, that is…

we started off as a cover band called Surgical Steel…
we eventually stopped playing Maiden and Metallica songs
and started writing our own stuff

Intense Regret (what a name) was my first real band

(that cover led to a rumor that we were racists)
*chuckle*

that’s drummer Keith Waller and me
giving praise to the 2-inch tape machine…

keith was the drummer on the recording,
but quit the band right after we finished the tape…
whipped…

the mighty Jeff Spitzer battling the bass

i must say at this point –
the audio you’re about to hear is coming to you
from a cassette that is 20 years old –
played through a 25-year-old cassette deck!
we recorded this in 1989 at Polymusic Studios
in Homewood, AL
dig the fake rock walls…

we were broke, so we recorded at half-speed (15 ips)
in order to get all the songs onto one reel of tape!

in other words – it didn’t sound all that hot twenty years ago,
so don’t expect much now…

having said that – once you get past the
aural shortcomings – i think
it still ROCKS HARD

so please to enjoy here-and-now…
